MILL CREEK - Jessie Fox finished with 21 points to lead Tygarts Valley past Union 79-27 Friday night in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Shelby McCauley and Chealsea Rush added 13 points each for the Lady Bulldogs (8-4), who led 28-20 at halftime and 58-24 after three quarters.

Shanda Howell chipped in with 12 points and Nikki Cutright hit for nine for Tygarts Valley.

Megan Kitzmiller had eight points, while Jaime Hanlin followed with six points for Union.

Tygarts Valley will travel to Harman on Monday.

Boys H.S. Basketball

Tygarts Valley 74, Union 51

MILL CREEK - Jeremy Lambert had 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Tygarts Valley past Union 74-51 Friday night in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Brandon Pritt finished with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (2-8, 1-5 PVC).

Tygarts Valley, which led 30-16 at halftime and 57-30 after three quarters, also received seven points and 11 rebounds from Timmy Gear.

Chris Donelson and Jeff Savage had 20 points each to lead the Tigers.

"Our defensive intensity really stepped up tonight," said Tygarts Valley coach Tom Wamsley. "That led us to some easy baskets and some other opportunities."

Tygarts Valley will host Clay-Battelle tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Bridgeport 56,

Buckhannon-Upshur 38

BRIDGEPORT?- Jerome Axton scored 19 points to lead Bridgeport to a 56-38 win over Buckhannon-Upshur Friday night in non-conference action.

Conor Kornbrath added 15 points for the Indians and Jason Carey hit for 10.

Bridgeport led 29-18 at intermission and 46-24 after three quarters of play.

Storm Workman led the Buccaneers (0-11) with 16 points. Dalton Westfall followed with seven points and Justin Holland scored six.

Buckhannon-Upshur will return to action Monday at University.

Preston 70,

Tucker County 50

KINGWOOD?- T.J. Thompson poured in 24 points as Preston handed Tucker County its first loss of the season with a 70-50 win Friday night.

Shayne Murray added 15 points for the Knights (11-1), while Colton Goff tossed in 13.

Preston held a 29-25 lead at the half and extended the deficit to 49-35 after three quarters.

Coltan Brusak and Josh Poling led the Mountain Lions (9-1) with 15 points each. Logan Snyder followed with 11 points and five assists. Ethan Slaubaugh chipped in nine points.

Tucker County will entertain Moorefield on Monday.

Middle School

EMS?GIRLS?SWEEP: The Elkins Middle School girls basketball teams swept a pair of games from Davis-Thomas Friday night.

The Lady Hornets won the varsity contest 36-16 behind eight points from Meghan Dolly and six from Jaycie Saseen.

Meshae Rowan and Larel Teter followed with four points apiece for Elkins and Taylor Miller hit for two. Ann Urban chipped in with one.

Carla Baker led Davis-Thomas with 10 points.

Monica Rossi and Kathlyne Simmons scored eight points each to lead the Lady Hornets' junior varsity team to a 24-14 win.

Sara Burkey added four points for Elkins.

Sam Holm scored six points for Davis-Thomas and Summer Snyder four.

The Lady Hornets will travel to Belington on Monday.
