By GARY MALLONEE, Staff WriterLocal firefighters were busy Wednesday morning when two house fires broke out in the southern part of the county within an hour of each other.
According to Adrian Fire Chief Bennie Nazelrod, the first fire occurred at a home off Beechtown Road. Adrian, Banks District and Buckhannon Fire Departments responded to the home that was completely destroyed by fire.
A short time later, fire broke out in home on Abbott Road that was totally engulfed when firefighters arrived. Firefighters from Buckhannon, Adrian, Washington District and Weston responded, but were unable to save the home, Nazelrod said.
While firefighters were out on the calls, the Elkins Fire Department and the Washington District Fire Company sent trucks to cover the Buckhannon Fire Department, he said.
The cause of each fire is undetermined and were not considered suspicious, Nazelrod said. No one was injured.
