Snow is a sign

February 20, 2010
By Sue Farrar, President of the Randolph County Ministerial Association

We were in a conference a couple of weeks ago with a couple from Maryland. The man speaking gave this scripture which is so pertinent to right now. Isaiah 58:10-11: "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the Earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will my word be which goes forth from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."

The snow is a picture of God's heart. The word has been released over West Virginia as the snow comes down from heaven to water the earth. God's hand is on our state and I believe revival is coming to our area.

Fresh winds of awakening are coming and I believe the snow is a sign from God that this is happening. There are Christians all over this state that have prayed for the awakening to take place. It has been more than 100 years since the last great awakening that took place at Azusa Street in California. It is time for our nation to come back to God. I also believe that snow is a sign of purification and awakening.

The snow this winter has been so beautiful. How many remember the snow of 1950? I was in the third grade living in Cowen. We went to my grandmother's house for Thanksgiving and were snowed in for two weeks. The snow drifted over her doors and we could not get out. I will never forget that.

Psalms 51:7-13 says, purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, let the bones that you have broken rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain me with a willing heart. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will be converted (turned back) to you.

Now is the time to prepare in your heart for the coming of the Lord. I believe we are living in the most exciting times and God is doing great and marvelous things in the churches and the lives of his people.

The word says, "The fields are ripe unto harvest, but the laborers are few." It is time to be about his business.

I want, at this time, to thank WDNE radio and Joe Danger for the huge outpouring of food that was given to Rock Ministries of Elkins Inc. from the Bluegrass Festival that took place at Elkins High School. We have been able to give a lot away.
