Sinsel is married to the former Carol Smithson of Belington. She is the daughter of Gale Smithson and the late Sonny Smithson. They have two daughters, Stephanie and Bronlyn, both of Morgantown.

Sinsel is a 1973 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. He holds an Associate of Science in mining engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Fairmont State University.

He is presently serving his fifth term as president of the commission. He is also a member of the County Commissioners Association of West Virginia, West Virginia Association of Counties, Barbour County Development Authority, Region VII Planning and Development Council, Region VI Workforce Board, Regional County Corrections Program and IOOF Lodge of Philippi.

Sinsel attends the Southern Baptist Church of Philippi.

Sinsel said he will continue to work with local and state officials to help move Barbour County forward. As commissioner he said he will continue to support the local fire departments, emergency squads, West Virginia University Extension Service, public libraries and community centers.

"I have enjoyed working for and with the citizens of Barbour County and pledge to run a positive campaign and ask for your support on May 11. And if re-elected I will continue to work for all the people of Barbour County," he said.
