Carrie E.?Wilfong has announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the office of Pocahontas County Circuit Clerk.

Wilfong is a 1994 graduate of Pocahontas County High School where she excelled in the studies of college level classes with an emphasis in the accounting business management field and participated with the Future Business Leaders of America.

She has more than 17 years experience emphasizing community relations working within the general public. She have served the residents of Pocahontas County as a dental assistant for John M. Mallow Jr., DDS, and as a deputy circuit clerk from July 2005 to the present. She was first trained with the general knowledge and duties of the office.

"I have worked hard and learned quickly the responsibilities of the circuit clerk by administering financial and statistical reports monthly, how to file new proceedings, documents, to recording and scanning of all orders. Since my employment, I have updated our computer system within the circuit clerk's office for all financial statements to accurately asses costs, fines, restitution amounts and mandatory assessments to all types of cases from divorce, domestic violence, child custody, child support, civil, all criminal cases, appeals and the compensation of the jurors who performed their civic duty," she said.

"With what I have learned and the knowledge I have obtained in the circuit clerk's office, I know that I have the ability and experience to perform the duties as your next circuit clerk," she said.

Her goals for the circuit clerk's office are to continue collaborating with the County Commission, work with all other department heads and their offices to maximize efficiency and to continue to maintain collection efforts to generate revenue for our county.

"I will provide the best possible customer service to the public with particular interest in making government more open, efficient and accessible for the residents of Pocahontas County," she said.

"I will demonstrate advanced results in technology, management and strategic planning while supervising an efficient office. I will keep the office as technologically advanced as possible by adding a public access computer for citizens to use when they would like to visit the office so they may research privately," she said.

According to Wilfong, her years as serving as a deputy circuit clerk make her uniquely qualified as the best choice as the next circuit clerk of Pocahontas County.

"I know my abilities to organize, my attention to detail, my strong desire to excel and go after solutions that are in the best interest of all concerned citizens are reasons why I seek the opportunity to serve as your next circuit clerk," she said.
