Sherry Hicks and Rob Buckles were married April 24 at the City Club of Washington, D.C. Presiding over the 100 guest secular ceremony was Archbishop Michael V. Seneco, SPSA of the North American Old Catholic Church.

A cocktail hour, plated dinner and dancing immediately followed.

The bride wore a vintage inspired ivory trumpet-style gown by Sonia Cholette with a cathedral-length veil and rhinestone jewelry. She carried a bouquet of deep purple fringed tulips and dusty miller.

The bridesmaids wore eggplant colored cocktail-length dresses from the After Six Dessey Collection and carried bouquets of ivory fringed tulips with dusty miller accents.

The bridegroom and groomsmen wore black Ralph Lauren tuxedos with platinum and eggplant striped Windsor ties and matching pocket squares.

The bride, escorted by her father, Mike Hicks, processed to "Pachelbel's Canon in D Major." Elaine Abel and Jennifer Poach, accompanied by pianist Shirley Lundell, performed a duet to "Here I Am" by Leona Lewis during the Unity Candle Ceremony. Joe Broslawsky provided a reading from 1 Corinthians 13.

The wedding party included parents of the bride, Mike and Linda Hicks of Buckhannon; junior bridesmaid Lexus Hicks escorted by her father, Brent Hicks, of Buckhannon; maid of honor, Vanessa Larner of Scottsdale, Arizona, and bridesmaids Melissa Buday of Cincinatti, Ohio, Melissa Murray of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jennifer Poach of Weston. Parents of the groom, Robert Sr. and Pamela Buckles of Sarasota, Florida, were joined by grandmother of the groom, Pauline Tingley of Venice, Florida; best man, Brian La France of Sarasota, Florida, and groomsmen Jared Bayer of Minocqua, Wisconsin, Kevin McCarthy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jason Young of Sarasota, Florida.

For the honeymoon, the newlyweds began in Barcelona and enjoyed a weeklong Mediterranean cruise of Spain, Italy and France.

The bride is a 1993 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and a 1997 graduate of Concord College. She is the director of food and beverage for Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.

The bridegroom graduated from University of South Florida and was a lieutenant in the Florida Army National Guard. He is a business process analyst for Permuta Technologies.

The couple met in Alexandria, Virginia, in 2008.

The couple currently reside in Springfield, Virginia.
