Guy and Avis Ryan of Elkins will observe their 50th wedding anniversary during a celebration given by their family from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 at Orlena United Methodist Church in Gilman.
The couple were married on Sept. 10, 1960, in Oakland, Maryland, by the Rev. Charles Godwin.
Mrs. Ryan, the former Avis Phares, is a retired teacher's aide with the Randolph County Board of Education.

Mr. Ryan is retired from CSX Transportation where he worked in the engineering department.
They have one daughter, Pamela Hinzman and husband, Fred, of Elkins, and one granddaughter, Brooke Hinzman.
The couple invites family and friends to attend their celebration on Sept. 18 in the church fellowship hall.
