2 W.Va. vol fire departments get grant money

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Grant money is heading to two West Virginia volunteer fire departments to make health and safety improvements at their stations.

The grants announced Tuesday by U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Jay Rockefeller also provide for the purchase of equipment for fitness, wellness and training at the Clendenin and Mineral Wells fire stations.

The Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department will received $23,370 while the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department will receive $127,680.

The funding is under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
