Elkins youth football teams capture victories

Elkins picked up a pair of wins Saturday in American Youth Football action.

The Elkins midget team defeated Clarksburg 40-0 at Wimer Field.

Cole Harlan had 87 yards passing and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 65 yards rushing and a score for the Bengals (3-1).

Brendan Cain had a 41-yard receiving touchdown, while Jarrette Zopp had a 25 yard touchdown reception. Chase Corcoran added a 21-yard touchdown reception.

Alex Taylor had 56 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Anthony Haden had a 41 yards. Luke Petrice tallied a 25-yard touchdown run for the Bengals.

Taylor had 10 tackles, while Keene Bowers had seven stops for the Elkins defense.

Zopp and Corey Gillespie added five tackles each, while Kyle Riggleman had four tackles and two fumble recoveries for the Bengals.

Elkins will travel to Bridgeport Sunday.

The Elkins pee wee black football team lost to South Harrison 35-13.

Gabriel Jordan had 161 yards rushing and a score to lead Elkins (3-1).

George Triplett added 27 yards on the ground, while Thomas Talkington had 12 yards and a score.

Zere Watts collected eight tackles to lead the Bengals defense. Josh Romero finished with seven stops while Triplett had six tackles and an interception. Tyler Monk had a fumble recovery for the Bengals.

Elkins will travel to Bridgeport Sunday.

The Elkins orange pee wee football team defeated Clarksburg 25-7 Saturday at Wimer Field.

Joseph Schmidlen had 91 yards, while Caleb Haas had 63 yards and two touchdowns for the Bengals.

Ben McDonald had a three-yard touchdown run for Elkins and led the defense with 13 tackles and three sacks. Bright and Daniel Romans had six tackles each.

Gabe Guire had five stops, while Jeremy Cogar and Russell Shifflett had fumble recoveries.

Elkins will travel to Bridgeport Sunday.
