Mountain Memories Show Band debuts in Petersburg

The Mountain Memories Show Band of Elkins' new Gandy Dancer Theatre and Conference Center will rock the Landes Arts Center in Petersburg Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 pm.

The Gandy Dancer is a new dinner theater scheduled to open April 1 on the Elkins Five-lane. Seating up to 400 diners, the Gandy Dancer will feature state-of-the art sound and light production capabilities and the finest in live entertainment.

This live, two-hour show will be an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the Mountain Memories Show Band prior to the opening of the Gandy Dancer in Elkins. Listeners will enjoy a variety of musical styles including classic and contemporary country, 1950s era popular, old-time rock and roll, bluegrass, gospel and more.

The Mountain Memories Show Band boasts a fantastic lineup of professional entertainers. Jesse Wanless, a 14-year professional entertainer, is one of the finest vocalists on the music scene today. Having perfected her performing skills on the stages of Branson, Missouri, Wanless has performed with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Pat Schoonover of Baltimore, Maryland, is a 30-plus-year professional musician. Schoonover is a multi-talented musician, songwriter and entertainer, playing virtually any instrument in a variety of musical styles.

Lead guitarist Dave Marsh has been a professional entertainer since he was a teenager. Marsh is a compelling vocalist and a true "tone master" on both acoustic and electric guitar. Mandolinist Jeremy Wanless began playing at the age of 10 after being inspired by a Bill Monroe television appearance. He is a veteran of several bluegrass bands including Hardly Ever, one of West Virginia's most sought after bluegrass bands.

Glen "Stix" Schoonover is one of the most phenomenal drummers and percussionists in the music industry. With more than 45 years of professional experience, Schoonover has performed with the U.S. Navy Jazz Band as well as with many top named artists.

Vice President of the Gandy Dancer Ralph Bennett is also a veteran performer. He will serve as emcee, host and featured vocalist for the Mountain Memories Show Band.

Tickets to this event are available at the door of the Landes Arts Center in Petersburg. General admission is $12, $10 for seniors and free for kids younger than 12. Don't miss this one-time opportunity to see the Mountain Memories Show Band prior to April 2011.
