ATHLETIC, ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT — The Lewis County High School Cheerleading Squad has been chosen to receive the West Virginia Secondary Schools – State Farm Insurance Academic Achievement Award. This award is given to the highest academic performing Cheer Squad in the state. To be a nominated, the school must submit a verification sheet confirming each girl’s GPA and the number of days missed during the school year. During the 2009-2010 academic school year, the cheer squad maintained an overall GPA of 3.88, while only missing 3.6 days of school for the year. LCHS will receive a banner to be displayed in the gym for this accomplishment. The team will be honored at an awards ceremony on Dec. 4 at the Super Six Football Playoffs in Wheeling.
