EHS spikers fall; Wesleyan downs D&E

The Elkins High School volleyball team lost to Liberty-Harrison in three games Tuesday during senior night at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Lady Tigers (4-12) lost the match 25-11, 25-14 and 25-17.

Sierra Shockey, Lynnlee Wileman, Taylor Gillespie, Joscelyn Broschart, Anna Losh and Ashlen Wilson played their last home game as members of the EHS volleyball team.

The Lady Tigers (2-14) lost the junior varsity contest 25-19 and 25-16.

The Lady Tigers will begin sectional tournament play against either Buckhannon-Upshur, Lewis County, Bridgeport or Hampshire County next Monday.

BUCKHANNON - The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team defeated Davis & Elkins in three games Tuesday in West Virginia Conference action.

The Lady Bobcats (9-14, 5-4 WVIAC) won the match 25-18, 25-20 and 25-17.

Hayley Barhorst had 32 set assists and 11 digs to lead Wesleyan.

Blake Samuell added 27 attacks and 13 digs, while Angela Covington had 15 attacks and eight kills for the Lady Bobcats.

Jana Lowe had 17 attacks and 16 hills, while Lindsay Russo had 15 attacks and two kills for the Lady Senators (9-18, 3-7).

Heather Zapt finished with 20 attacks, while Alex Barnard added 12 for the Lady Senators.

West Virginia Wesleyan will travel to West Virginia State on Thursday for a WVIAC matchup.

Davis & Elkins visits St. Mary's City (Md.) on Friday.
