Because of an unexpected circumstance with provider coverage, DirectCare of Parsons will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.; evening hours will be discontinued effective immediately.
According to Carl Nichols, director of DirectCare, "One of our providers who sees walk-in patients has experienced a medical issue that must be addressed right away. To make sure that walk-in patients' needs are taken care of, Dr. Elaine Moore, our family practitioner, has agreed to see walk-in patients during the times that her practice is open."
Patients with acute, non-emergent conditions like infections, allergic reactions, sore throats and ear aches; and unexpected injuries like burns, sprains, strains and cuts are welcome to come to DirectCare for evaluation and treatment on a walk in basis, Nichols said. "We will continue to meet the health care needs of the community at DirectCare, just with a different schedule of hours."
Moore began seeing patients in Parsons in October. Prior to coming to Parsons, she practiced in St. Albans, just outside Charleston. Moore graduated from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1988 and completed her residency at Charleston Area Medical Center.
