St. Patrick School to put on annual Christmas Pageant

December 11, 2010
The Inter-Mountain

Everyone has heard the Christmas story, right? Maybe. But even if you have heard it, it is still nice to be reminded of the beautiful story of Jesus' birth during the Christmas season, a spokesperson said. That is why the students of St. Patrick School invite everyone to attend the annual Christmas Pageant at St. Patrick School gymnasium in Weston on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.

Some country folk share about the real meaning of Christmas with a few of their city cousins through exciting songs and funny theatrical drama. Granny and Uncle Earl share the Christmas story - country style - and the students present "It All Happened In The Country."

The entire school enrollment, 161 students, will be featured in the play.

Under the direction of Sherri Jackson, sixth-grade teacher, the pageant is an extension of classroom instruction in reading, religion, language arts, music, art and public speaking.

Assisting Jackson are teachers Susan Moody, Amanda Sherrell, Marlena Reed, Shelly Kraus, Lindsey Clevenger, Cheryl Moore, Kathy Boyle and Cathy Riley. Paul Derico is the school's principal.

Aides Kay Droppleman, Sara VanScoy, Paige Bailey, Shirley Hubbs and Julia Marsh are providing assistance. Kraus will offer the musical accompaniment for the performance. Assistance with costumes, front stage decorations and refreshments is being provided by volunteer parents.

County and city folk portrayed by the sixth-grade class include: Granny, Joy Mills; Uncle Earl, Matt Rinehart; Ma, Mary-Kathryn Clark; Pa, Ian Young; Jed, Thomas Hogan; Ted, Tyler Mehr; Ed, Ian McKee; Fred, Joe Jerden; Jethro, Jake Rahming; Ellie Belle, Maddie Paugh; Cora Mae, Brianna Bennett; Jo Jo, Anna Naim; Bobbie Sue, Brooklyn Queen; Tiff, Tabathia Minney; Chels, Brandi Hewitt; Elle, Olivia Phillips; Billy Bob, Kaleb Gannon; and Jimmy Joe, John Paul Snuffer.

Nativity characters are: Mary, Victoria Bowen; Joseph, Jonathan Menendez; Gabriel, Eva Beth; Wise Men, Cole Barker, Dalton Davis, and Bobby Fisher; Shepherds, Natalie Linger, Logan Butcher, and Levi Fox; Narrators, Albert Naim, Maddie Stark, Erin Turner, Paije Bragg, Kyle Byrd; announcers, Avery Post and Megh Bailey.

The whole school will perform "To Us a Child Is Born."

"Christmas in the City" will be performed by Meg Walker, Sarah Post, Claire Moneypenny, Deanna Pascasio, Emily Paugh, Lauren Farnsworth, Tiffany Minney, Mikayla Blake, Emily Kraus, Faith Messenger, Sarah Goldsmith and Trenton Mullins, with special effects by Justin Frazier, Shawn Moran and Trinity Hammond.

The third grade will sing "Jingle Rap" with a special rap by Aaron Jackson and Rudy Phillips.

"It All Happened in the Country" will be performed by the second grade with special commentators Sam and Will Snider, Pat Snuffer, and Luke and Leo White.

Kindergarten, under the direction of Clevenger and Droppleman, will sing "Angels We Have Heard on High."

First grade, under the direction of Sherrell, will sing "The Ballad of the Shepherds," with special commentators Caden Rohrbough, Austin Sponaugle, Lucas Lewis and Adin Post.

The preschool class, 3-year-olds, and the pre-kindergarten class, 4-year-olds, under the direction of Riley and VanScoy, will perform as well.

The performance is free to the public, and donations are accepted.
