Sarah Minear, founding president of Tucker Community Foundation, received the 2010 West Virginia Grantmakers (WVG) Volunteer Leadership Award honoring a lifelong commitment to private action for the public good through philanthropy. WVG is a professional membership organization for local grantmaking institutions.
Minear was honored Oct. 5 at the annual WVG conference at Stonewall Resort. David King, executive director of Ohio-West Virginia YMCA, made the presentation.
The conference focused on youth and children. Perry Bryant of West Virginians for Affordable Healthcare spoke on Healthcare Reform 101 and discussed how it affects nonprofits and small businesses.
WVG creates opportunities for the exchange of ideas and information, disseminates information about current trends and research in philanthropy, and builds partnerships within and outside of West Virginia. Representing TCF were Development Director Diane Hinkle and board Vice President Mariwyn Smith.
