Training will help schools use technology

Officials from two Regional Education Service Agencies are preparing to help counties take advantage of the latest technology.

Employees from RESA 2 and RESA 7 are becoming certified to train others in their counties to use the Promethean Electronic Whiteboard. Mike Wolfe, Kelly Watts, Lisa Teeters and Vicky Bale will be prepared to serve educators in Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne counties, while Shannon Carnes will assist in Barbour, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker, Upshur counties.

"After taking the training and completing all the requirements, we will be certified to train on the Promethean Electronic Whiteboard throughout our counties," said Carnes, technology integration director for RESA 7. "This is just another demonstration of the measures we take as RESAs to help train teachers in our counties on the latest technology," she said.

The five RESA representatives, including two RESA 2 staff members and two technology integration coaches from Mason County, attended the "ActivInstructor" training course from Dec. 6-9.

Whiteboards - high-tech chalkboards that allow teachers to use computers to create interactive lessons will be kept in the RESA offices for training purposes.

RESA 2 is headquartered in Huntington and provides educational enhancement resources for students, teachers and the public in Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mingo and Wayne counties.
