Performance Motors’ territory expands

January 18, 2011

Performance Motors is further expanding its presence in Randolph County as it can now offer new Chevrolet vehicles at its Elkins location.

Along with the move to selling new cars, trucks and SUVs in Elkins, the Darlington family and Performance will add all of Randolph County and portions of three surrounding counties. Performance Motors received notice of the new "area of primary responsibility," as GM calls it, late in 2010. Among the new towns Performance will serve are Philippi, Belington, Rowlesburg and the Seneca Rocks region.

"This is extremely exciting news for our family and for the region," said co-owner Patrick Darlington. "We look forward to showing residents of Randolph, Barbour, Preston and Pendleton counties the same thing our existing customers know: Performance is all about service, and we know how to treat people right."

The expanded territory represents more than 33,000 additional residents, according to U.S. Census figures, a five-fold increase in Performance's previous area of responsibility.

"We really appreciate the confidence General Motors is showing in us," Darlington said. "Our sales have increased steadily, and some of the folks in these areas already were coming to Parsons because they know we'll treat them fairly. We look forward to bringing the advantages of Performance Motors to others who aren't aware of us yet."

All of the same great employees will be available at the Parsons and Elkins locations, including top-end service technicians.

Previous buyers in all of the new areas are encouraged to bring their vehicles to either location for service work, including Chevrolet warranty coverage.

Highly qualified, ASE-certified technicians are available in both places.

The Darlington family purchased the Tucker County dealership in June 2007 when Darlington became co-owner with his parents, Gene and Sandy Darlington, and sister and brother-in-law, Christy and Ryan Hines.

Performance has seen tremendous growth in the past 3 1/2 years. In recognition of that fact, and as part of General Motors' successful reorganization, Performance now is responsible for new Chevy sales in the expanded "area of primary responsibility."

Performance is a community oriented dealership, a dedication that comes from the backgrounds of its owners.

The dealership supports causes such as county fairs, Relay for Life, community sports organizations and other activities.

Sandy Darlington is a retired teacher, and Gene Darlington is a retired magistrate.

Christy and Ryan Hines both are involved in health care in addition to their roles at the dealership.

Patrick Darlington is a graduate of Shepherd University and has worked at auto dealerships from Berkeley to Upshur counties since graduating.

"We really are a family owned business, and we treat our customers the same way," Patrick Darlington said. "We look forward to proving to people that we're the best place to buy a new Chevrolet or any pre-owned model."

In addition to the Darlington family, the staff at the Elkins location includes sales associates Perry Dellagotta and Mitch Reece, Finance and Insurance Manager Jerry Helmick, Office Manager Nancy Fletcher, Service Manager Renee Westfall, Parts and Service Manager Rich Nida, GM certified technician Nick Tompkins and service technician Jeff Tompkins.

The full inventory of new and used cars can be viewed online 24-hours a day at www.performancechevroletwv.com.
