Acting Senate President and Democratic candidate for governor Jeff Kessler, D-Marshall, has received an endorsement from the West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association.

"Our board of directors has selected to support and endorse Sen. Jeff Kessler for governor," West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association President William Roper said. "Senator Kessler has always been willing to listen to our issues. We want to support a person who understands the needs of law enforcement in these trying economic times."

Kessler is a former prosecutor and his paternal grandfather was the police chief in Benwood. "I am honored to receive the West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association endorsement," Kessler said. "Chiefs of Police hold a special place in our communities. I always respect their hard work and their tireless efforts to keep our citizens safe."

Kessler has also been endorsed by the West Virginia State Fraternal Order of Police and the Advanced Practicing Nursing Association.
