Jim and Janet Harman of the Cravensdale community celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 21.
The couple were married April 21, 1961, at the Orlena United Methodist Church by the Rev. Cutright. Since the time of their wedding, they have remained active in the church, which has been central to their marriage and family throughout the years.
The couple grew up in the Cravensdale community. Mr. Harman built their home on land where he grew up, and they raised their family there.
Mr. Harman is the son of Dickson and Icie Harman. He retired in 2000 after teaching for 30 years at the Randolph County Vocational Center. He has also served as the supervisor for the Tygart Valley Conservation District and assisted with the completion of the Elkwater Dam project.
Mrs. Harman is the daughter of Otto and Velma Phillips. She was a 20-year employee of the West Virginia Division of Transportation. She retired in 2007 to devote all of her time to her community, church and family.
They have three children, Cindy Harman, Tammy Dolly and husband, Robin, and Jim Harman and wife, Tracy. They also have eight grandchildren, Ashleigh Webb, Chelsie Webb, Levi Harman, Meghan Dolly, Allison Dolly, Jakob Harman, Lukas Harman and Hunter Harman.
