Quilt and fabric shop opens in Elkins

May 18, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

After assisting her husband with a few businesses, Linda Meloni, the owner of the new Piecing the Past Quilt and Fabric Shoppe, has finally found a business she can call her own.

"I enjoyed working with my husband in our other ventures," Meloni said, noting her involvement in Nationwide general Rental of Elkins,?Horner Tool and Equipment Rental of Horner and Pit Stop Quick Lube of Elkins. Those businesses were later sold.

"But in those, I was more of a support person. With this business, I am more in control of the day-to-day operations and decision making," Meloni added.

Piecing the Past Quilt and Fabric Shoppe sells fabric and notions from many quality suppliers. It also features reproduction fabrics from the 1800s, 1930s, Civil War and "Gone With the Wind," to mention a few.

All fabrics on bolts sell for $6.99 per yard through the end of May.

"I enjoy the bygone days and the simple times they represented," Meloni said.

"Stop by and take a look. I look forward to serving you and listening to any ideas you may have," she said.

Business hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and by appointment. For more information, call 304-636-9711 or visit www.piecingthepast.net.

Piecing the Past Quilt and Fabric Shoppe is located at the intersections of Route 33 east and Route 219 south, next to Hiawatha's in Elkins.
