Grant Memorial Hospital donates food

June 11, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

Last month employees of Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg gave their first monthly food contribution to the Petersburg Food Pantry. It all started with employees supporting the West Virginia University football team last fall by wearing jeans and clothing on Fridays in West Virginia colors with WVU designs.

Customer Service Coordinator Paula Combs said, "Employees loved casual Fridays so much, the decision was made to allow employees to continue casual Fridays but it would cost them. The cost is two containers of nonperishable food each Friday in support of the food pantries in the Tri-County area." The Petersburg Food Pantry received more than 300 pounds of food items for April's casual Fridays. The May contributions will go to the Mac House (Moorefield Active Caring House) and June's donations will go to the Pendleton County food bank. The process will start over again in July.

Combs added that causal Friday is a way for employees of Grant Memorial Hospital to give back to the Tri County area. "We are thankful for the areas support of the hospital, our programs, projects and services and this is one way we can say thank you."
