Holiday celebration planned at Canaan

June 25, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

Canaan Valley Resort & Conference is set to celebrate its annual WindFest, along with Fourth of July activities, beginning Friday.

Kite building workshops to be conducted by Wings over Washington Kite Club on July 2 and 3. Children and adults are encouraged to build their own kite and learn how to fly it afterward.

On July 2, participants can learn how to fly stunt kites, including an 80-foot scuba diver and 20-foot lobster.

Wings over Washington Kite Club is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to "getting out the word" about the joy of flying, building, watching and designing kites. The club members are not restricted to one type of kite; single line, dual line, quad line, fighter kites, and other multi-line kites are enjoyed by all members. The joy of flying kites is the focus of the club members, and the goal would be to share this joy with as many people as possible.

The weekend will also include crafts, music and fireworks.
