The Tucker County Senior Center has several events planned for the remainder of the month, including luncheons, a celebration and musical entertainment. In addition, two new trips may be added to the calendar.
Saint George Outpost
The St. George Outpost of the Tucker County Senior Citizens will host its July meeting and covered dish dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday the St. George United Methodist Church.
Parsons Center
The Parsons Center will give special recognition to participants who are celebrating July birthdays on Thursday. The Goldenaires will perform, and prior to lunch everyone will sing happy birthday wishes to the honored guests. Mountain Hospice will provide a decorated cake to be served to all in attendance.
Mt. Top Center
A representative from Mountain Hospice will be at the Mt. Top Center to host a prize bingo on Thursday following lunch. Prizes will be awarded.
Annual picnic
The 2011 Tucker County Senior Citizen County Picnic is scheduled for Aug. 1 at the Hendrick's Park. Full details will be available at a later date.
Travel Committee News
On Oct. 11, the group will visit the Capitol Music Hall and attend the comedy of Carl Hurley and Jeanne Robertson. The trip also will include shopping time at Cabella's and other places. There will be plenty of room to transport purchases on the bus. Call the center for information.
The committee is exploring the possibility of a late November, early December Christmastime trip to New York. The trip would include a guided tour of New York, the Radio City Rockettes Show and much more.
Before the trip is planned, organizers need to see if there is enough interest. Anyone who may want to go on the trip should call the center.
Anyone who would like information on the Jan. 28, 10-day, nine-night Bahamas cruise may call the center.
