Jakes Day a success

August 13, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

Editor:

The Tygart Valley Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation would like to thank many individuals that volunteered their time and special skills to help make our annual Jakes Day a success. This year we had 74 kids attending our event, along with many parents staying for the whole day. On behalf of our chapter, we would like to thank the following:

Randolph County Sheriff Deputy Richard Swisher for his very special talent of face painting, Jerry and Kevin Gibson from WETV, Joe Blankenship of The Inter Mountain, Allegheny Insurance, Mountaineer Chapter of IWLA, Beverly Volunteer Fire Department, Gary and Joan Thomason, Vic Mastroguiseppe Jr., Larry Scott, Mary Frances Streets, Vince Foster, Stacy, Carrie and Matt Bonner, Barb Bright, April Harrison, Phyllis Mastroguiseppe, Lisa Martin, Beverly Hinchman, Jack Valentine, Joe Crowder, Cathy Johnson/Wildlife Biologist, Clyde Campbell, Ray Means, Twiggy Perry, Don Thomason, Delbert Vandevender and to the parents who brought their children to our special day. This year a new station was added, members of the FBI CJIS Division's Community Outreach Program provided fingerprinting to individuals and handed out packets to all that participated.

Every year all attending are treated to lunch provided by the Mountaineer Chapter of IWLA. Many thanks to all their members who helped us out this year Bruce and Elinor Evans, Larry Snyder, Jay and Claudia Winn, Tom Harris, Bud Cosner, Mike Ludle, Don Phares, Vic Thompson, Tommy Thompson, Mark Pritt and Danny Chenoweth. We would also like to thank the Mountaineer Chapter for the use of their beautiful property for this year's event and for all the years in the past! Our chapter is very grateful for all the volunteers from the Mountaineer Chapter that help us out every year; your help is greatly appreciated!

All kids attending received a T-shirt and our grand prize winner of the day was Allen Bonner. The chapter has already started making plans for next year's event, which is scheduled for June 23.

Mark your calendars now and bring some friends with you. Thanks again to all that volunteered to help make our event a fun and exciting experience for the youth in our area! See you next year!

Trish Thomason

Secretary, Tygart Valley Chapter of NWTF
