Basket making class available at Camp Horseshoe

August 19, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

Joni Neubert will instruct a basket making class at Camp Horseshoe at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 16.

Neubert is a one-of-a-kind instructor and knows all the ins and outs of constructing baskets. She is a veteran of this heritage craft and will show how to weave a useful 12-inch-by-18-inch market basket.

"It's heavy duty, so it can be used for numerous chores at home or to carry with pride to covered-dish dinners, sewing/knitting retreat, etc.," a spokesperson said.

This will be a day of fun, fellowship and two home-cooked meals in the Camp Horseshoe dining hall.

"You can get away from it all. Bring a friend and have a great time making this wonderful basket. At camp there are no chores, meals to cook or phones to answer. Join us for a great learning experience. You will be completely spoiled for a day," the spokesperson said.

YMCA Camp Horseshoe is located near Leadmine in Tucker County's Monongahela National Forest. For a brochure, call 304-478-2481 or 304-478-2899.
