Hardy County Health and Wellness Center has announced that the PEIA Preferred Provider's Weight Management Program is now open to more people. The new criteria will include individuals with a body mass index of 25 or greater; or for women, a waist circumference of 35 inches or greater; or for men, a waist circumference of 40 inches or more.
Morgan Hill, HCH&WC manger, said that the PEIA Weight Management Plan uses the services of exercise and nutritional professional in conjunction with professional phone counselors to "help you make the necessary lifestyle changes so that you may lose weight and improve your health."
"Each member must participate at a facility meeting PEIA's health and safety standards, which our Wellness Center does. They will receive individualized services that includes a baseline assessment and periodic follow ups, personal training, phone coaching and two years of services so long as they demonstrate progress," Hill said.
Participants are obligated to keep all scheduled appointments, provide at least 24 hours notice for any cancellations or they may be charged for a missed appointment, pick one facility (no switching facilities), exercise at least twice weekly, cooperate with the monthly measurements, pay the facility co-payment when due, notify phone coaches if experiencing problems interfering with participation and keep a food journal to be reviewed by staff.
"There is no deductible or coinsurance for members, only a flat fee of $20 throughout the length of the program," said Hill. "These changes make it more affordable for couples and or their families who want to attend together."
