Grant Memorial Hospital recently welcomed Dr. Amanda Sherman to the hospital and Tri-County Community.

A native of Petersburg, Sherman is a 1995 graduate of Petersburg High School, who always knew she wanted "to be doctor and come back home to Petersburg to practice."

"It is great to finally be home and start the work that I love, providing my best in health care services to the women in my community."

Dr. Amanda Sherman has joined the team at Grant County Memorial Hospital.

Sherman received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. In June, upon completion of her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, she joined the OB-GYN practice of Dr. John Hahn.

Sherman said she is proud to be a West Virginian. "I am committed to providing quality health care in my native state. My goal is to offer the best in health care for women at every stage of life. I want to develop long-lasting patient relationships and want my patients to feel at ease and know that they are respected."

Some of Sherman's special interest include family planning, preconception counseling, infertility, menopause transition and minimally invasive surgery.

"Dr. Hahn and I are also pleased to offer Novasure endometrial ablation to women experiencing heavy periods that may interfere with their everyday life. This is a one-time, outpatient procedure that takes just minutes to perform. The procedure can dramatically lighten or even end a woman's heavy period."

Sherman has one brother, Cullen, who works with the Grant County Health Department as the county sanitation officer. She is the daughter of Shirley and John Sherman, both retired Grant County school teachers who divide their retirement time between Nye, Montana, and Petersburg. "When time allows," Sherman stated, "I like to travel to new places, and I enjoy outdoor sports such as hiking and horseback riding."

To invite Sherman to speak with your organization on women's health issues or make an appointment, call 1-866-900-HAHN.
