In pain, without help

September 17, 2011

Editor:

I have been a resident of Elkins for almost three years now, and I realize that there is an epidemic of pill seekers. Recently, I injured my back and have to have surgery. My family physician is out of state and cannot call me anything in for the pain. She suggested to me that I need to find a local doctor to help me.

I have called many doctors in this town and not one will help me. Why should patients that truly are ill and in need of a doctor's help be scorned because of the junkies that live in this town.

I too hold a medical license and I took an oath to help people. Obviously that isn't pertinent in this area. Shame on every doctor that sees someone who truly is sick and refuses them care. You are all a disgrace to the medical profession.
