Tucker school names ‘Golden Bears’

October 22, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

Administration and staff at Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School realize the importance of recognizing students for both academic excellence and outstanding character and citizenship traits. Inspired by the school mascot, a bear, DTEMS has developed 'Golden Bear' awards, which will be given to students nominated by any school staff member. The staff is looking for children who exhibit traits such as respect, caring, honesty, responsibility, perseverance, citizenship, academic improvement and personal best. It is the hope of the school that through this recognition program, positive character traits will be instilled in students and have a lasting impact. The Tucker County Education Association sponsors a $25 certificate to a primary and a middle school student at the end of the year.

Each time a student earns a Golden Bear award, that person's name is entered in the drawing for the gift certificate; so the more Golden Bear awards, the more chances there are to win.
