AMT?receives big honor

November 5, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

Editor:

My name is Kate Reed, and I am the executive director of the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce.

I'm writing in support of one of our Chamber members, the American Mountain Theater (AMT). We would like the community to help us by being part of a letter writing campaign requesting that Suddenlink start carrying RFD-TV as part of its packages in West Virginia.

At the beginning of 2012, the American Mountain Theater will begin airing a new 30-minute weekly television show on RFD-TV; however, our local residents will not be able to enjoy the show because Suddenlink does not offer RFD-TV in their West Virginia packages.

The American Mountain Theater continues to boost our local economy and has garnered recognition from across the state. AMT will be completing its fifth season in December at its new facility and it is one of the state's fastest growing tourism attractions. In 2010, it was awarded the Mountain State Award by the West Virginia Division of Tourism for excellence in programming and distinctiveness. In 2011, the Division of Tourism awarded AMT the Community Tourism Development Award for its enhancement of local resources through multi-business cooperatives, imaginative and innovative development efforts with emphasis being given to business-oriented development. It stages more than 200 shows per year and is the No. 1 motor coach group tour destination in the state.

AMT has been a shining star in our community and I am asking for the local residents to help them with this request.

The Chamber has pre-formatted letter templates for interested supporters on our website at www.erccc.com. Please contact the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce at 304-636-2717 or chamber@erccc.com for any addition information.
