Lorraine Moran of Elkins celebrated her 88th birthday weekend in the New River area with daughters Linda Collins of Lakeland, Fla., and Vera Hammond of Fayetteville, N.C., and friend Sam Galford of Elkins.
Belated birthday celebrations were hosted at the home of her daughter and son in-law, Greta and Kenna Kuhl of Canal Fulton, Ohio, and in Niagara Falls, Canada. Highlights of the Niagara Falls birthday celebration included watching fireworks from the hotel suite, enjoying Maid of the Mist tour, Journey Behind the Falls, Tussaud's Wax Museum, Casino Niagara, Experiencing the Roar, sightseeing along the Niagara River and from Observation Tower in New York, and visiting the Perry Monument and watching the sunset from Presque Isle, Pa.
Those attending the belated birthday celebrations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Canada were Cindy Kuhl and daughters, Tori and Lexi of Wooster, Ohio, Galford and Kenna and Greta Kuhl.
Mrs. Moran was born on July 10, 1923, in Upshur County to William and Lavinia Poling. On June 13, 1943, she married John H. Moran Jr., who died in 1956.
Mrs. Moran is a member of Nay's Chapel United Methodist Church near Buckhannon, Upshur County CEOS at large, Rebekah Lodge 98, Silver Sneakers, Mountain Weavers Guild and DAR. She is a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary 3674 and the 1998 Randolph County Belle. She enjoys sewing, weaving baskets and chair bottoms, reading, walking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
