PHILIPPI - Linda Menear, a resident of Philippi, has released her first children's book with PublishAmerica.

"The Little Groundhog Discovers the True Meaning of Christmas" is a story about Bubby, who has a dilemma. Winter is coming, and Bubby will have to go down in his hole to sleep. He wants to stay awake and play with his friend Fluffy, but he gets lost in the snow and arrives at a house.

He is very scared, cold and wet. He ignores his parent's warnings and slips inside. A beautiful sight meets his eyes because it is Christmas Eve. The room is decorated with many interesting things. Bubby begins to look around to find out why the room looks this way. Suddenly, an angel appears and gives him the answers.

Menear grew up in Philippi, and she always has been an avid reader of many types of books. She began writing poetry and stories in 1992. The idea for this book was drawn from an old farmhouse she lived in several years ago. This story originally was written as a Christmas present for her two brothers in 1997.

The book is available for sale through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, Books a Million.com and their bookstores. There are limited copies available through Mountain Treasures and Mace's Pharmacy in Philippi as well as The Bookstore in Buckhannon.

The publisher is Publish America in Fredrick, Md.

The traditional publishing company's primary goal is to encourage and promote the works of new, previously undiscovered writers. More information is available at www.publishamerica.com or www.facebook.com/publishamerica.publisher.
