Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School teachers Janel Paul and Lisa Anderson were hired for the after-school reading clinic at Davis Thomas Middle Elementary School during the Tucker County Board of Education meeting on Monday.

During the Oct. 18 board meeting, Paul told members Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School has adult reading on Wednesdays, but Paul said she would like to look for funding opportunities and to discuss the possibility of having access for students and adults who just need extra help with reading. Paul said she thought that type of program could impact the lives of kids and their families.

Superintendent Eddie Campbell agreed to sit down with Paul and start to examine her ideas and how to make it work and he also contacted Dave Lambert who found monies available to support the program.

Campbell also reported the Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School project has been completed and everything looks good.

"We have a good warranty agreement, and when we had a leak, they came right back," Campbell said. "Everything is automated with the heating and cooling system, and the company can go online and diagnose the root of the problem before they get here."

In other business, Tucker County Board of Education took the following action:

Tucker County Board of Education will meet 6 p.m. Jan. 3 at Tucker County Board Office.
