The message of good tidings

December 23, 2011
The Inter-Mountain

As the countdown to Christmas edges to its final day, so does the conclusion of our daily holiday feature "Comfort and Joy." For 12 publications, beginning on Dec. 12, we have highlighted the efforts of area organizations that have rallied their volunteers to make the holidays brighter for those less fortunate.

Although our series focused on only a dozen groups, remarkably there are scores of others throughout the region that have stepped up to help this season and in years past. An untold number of volunteers have given of their time. What's also notable, and often overlooked, are the hundreds of community members who make contributions to these organizations to keep the projects afloat.

It truly is the season of giving, and we've heard time and again the thankfulness these groups express to everyone who lent a hand, made a donation or supported them in any way. The joy experienced by the people who benefit is priceless.

So on our next to last day of "Comfort and Joy" for this season, we salute Kristin's Hope, Toys for Tots, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, American Legion Post 29, Operation Christmas Child, Parish House, Tyrand Cooperative Ministries, Randolph County Humane Society, Weston Rotary, organizers of Annual Community Christmas Dinner in Buckhannon, Randolph County Senior Center and all those that share their resources to make the holiday shine.

To those who contribute, we extend a special blessing and a wish that their model of the spirit of giving inspires others.
