Christine Lee Hebb, 83, a resident of Parsons, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Charlotte Vanscoy, surrounded by her family.
She was born Monday, July 23, 1928, at Newton, Ala., a daughter of the late Sam Wyatt and Minnie Dale Drew Lee.
On March 19, 1946 at Ozark, Ala., she was married to Charles William Hebb Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Charlotte Faye Vanscoy and husband, Alvin, of Porterwood and Carol Ann Lemons and husband, Rick, of Cabins; one daughter-in-law, Carol Stokes Hebb of Parsons; two sisters, Daisy Dale Griggs of Ozark, Ala., and Syble Sharpe of Flint, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles William Hebb Jr.; one son-in-law, William "Bill" Lawrence; and two sisters, Miriam Lee and Merle Armstrong.
She attended the school at Jellico, Ala. She was a waitress at Ozark, Ala.; she worked in a cotton mill where she inspected material. She worked on farms where she picked cotton, and she was employed in a sewing factory. She was an employee of the former Dorman Mills. She was a member of Parsons Church of God for over 50-plus years, where she was a song leader, a Sunday school teacher and helped make fried pies and donuts. She was a homemaker, a professional seamstress and a noted cook. Christine was famous for her Lane Cake.
The family will receive friends at Parsons Church of God on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the church on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Eli Hostetler, the Rev. Pat Cassidy and the Rev. Butch Miller will officiate and interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
