Jerry Barnes Sr.

Jerry Lee Barnes Sr., 70, of Davis, passed away Jan. 23, 2012, at his home.

He was born Jan. 11, 1942, at Davis, a son of the late Charles Roy and Louristine Arretta Durr Barnes.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Fay Thompson Barnes,; one son, Jerry Lee Jr. (Martha Marie) Barnes of Cumberland, Md.; two daughters, Dona (Benton) Duckett of Davis and Kandius (Jose) Orta-Torres of Norfolk, Va.; four brothers, Charles Barnes of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Larry Barnes of Charleston, Robert Barnes and Jeff Barnes, both of Davis; five sisters, Delores Sisler of Morgantown, Connie Whitehair of Davis, Sharon Oxley of Parkersburg, Judy Matthews and Patricia Falls, both of Elkins; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Brad, Jimmy and Robert; and one sister, Donna Barnes.

Jerry was employed by DiDacco's Shop & Save in Davis as a butcher for many years. Mr. Barnes served his country during the Vietnam War in the Air Force. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid West Virginia University football fan. He enjoyed spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home today from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Callaway officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
