Benzil R. Marsh, 84, of Buckhannon, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012.
He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Upshur County, a son of the late John Burr and Nina E. Carpenter Marsh.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Alderman Marsh, on Oct. 6, 1979.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Keral and Oscar Marsh; and one sister, Irene Crites.
He was united in marriage on June 20, 1980, to Jessie Marsh, who survives in Buckhannon.
He is also survived by one daughter, Nancy Lou Boone and husband, Ray, of Pottstown, Pa.; one grandson, Brian Boone and wife, Mimi; two great grandchildren, Luxe and Nico; and one brother, Glenn Marsh of Massillon, Ohio.
Benzil was a 1945 graduate of Buckhannon- Upshur High School. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and a life member of the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663. Mr. Marsh retired from Mayer Pollock Steel. He was a very special person; a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a service at 4 p.m.
At the conclusion of this service, the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, the Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion, and the DAV Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct military honors.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, at the Catagnus Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, Pa. Interment will be in the Highland Memorial Park in Pottstown, Pa.
