Mr. Charles "Chick" Golden, 97, a resident of Caprice Nursing Care Facility in North Lima, Ohio, and formerly of Belington, departed this life Sunday evening, Feb. 12, 2012, in the care facility. He had been in declining health for quite sometime.
He was born March 6, 1914 a son of the late Fannie Golden Wolfe.
On July 7, 1934, he was united in marriage to the former Pearl Icie Poe, who preceded him in death on July 24, 2001.
He is survived by two daughters, Nadine Hymes and husband, Matt, of Poland Ohio, and Deloris Golden and companion, Harley Watson, of Elkins; four sisters-in-law, Della Ware, Mary Poe, Norma Poe, all of Belington and Sarah Shields of East Liverpool, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Talbott, and Carrie Hill; one brother, Edward Golden; and one infant granddaughter.
Mr. Golden attended the schools of Barbour County and while living in Belington attended the Resurrection Catholic Mission Church, and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. Mr. Golden was a former employee of the Elkins Limestone Plant, and was a former constable in Barbour County.
Friends will be received from Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17th and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in Kingsville Catholic Cemetery at Kingsville.
