Cody Gainer had 17 points to lead Elkins past rival Buckhannon-Upshur 53-50 Friday night in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
Gainer added four rebounds for the Tigers (5-11), who led 26-24 at halftime and 38-30 after three quarters of play.
Logan Phillips tossed in 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Elkins, while Tyler Shreve chipped in with eight points.

Houston Schuler added five points for the Tigers.
"It was a great team win tonight," Elkins coach Roy Simms said. "I thought the second quarter was the difference maker. We had 10 guys play tonight and all of them stepped up and contributed."
Bub Short had a team-high 17 points, while Matt Cunningham scored in 13 points for the Buccaneers, who falter to 6-14 with the loss.
Dalton Westfall added 10 points for Buckhannon-Upshur.
"I thought the second quarter when Elkins went on its run was the difference in the game," Buckhannon-Upshur coach Eli Gurash said. "Our defense in the second half was not very good at all. Mostly because we were lazy getting back in transition."
Buckhannon-Upshur travels to Bridgeport next Wednesday for another conference contest.
Elkins visits North Marion tonight for a league clash. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
