Tucker Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2012 scholarship cycle.
Students from Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker counties and Garrett County, Md., are encouraged to apply for a scholarship regardless of their field of study.
More than $52,000 will be awarded in blocks ranging from $500 to $4,000.
Applications are available at the Community Foundation office located on the second floor of the Tucker County Board of Education Annex Building, through area high school guidance counselors and online at www.tuckerfoundation.net.
Completed applications are due by April 6. The general application is for high school seniors and college students, the nontraditional application is for those returning to school after an absence and the Gary Wilson Application is for K-12 students following a Christian-based curriculum. Students attending technical schools also are eligible for scholarship awards.
In addition to income from the Kep & Alice Smith Trust and other unrestricted income, the Community Foundation manages 25 endowed scholarship funds that provide a perpetual source of funding for area students. The distribution criteria can be viewed online.
A $500 White Grass Culinary Scholarship is available this year and the Ryan Gosa Memorial Pass-Through Scholarship for a Tucker County student majoring in English literature, journalism or music will be awarded for a second year.
Scholarship award recipients will be announced in May.
