A new campaign in the spirit of the season of Lent, called one item for 40 days, is collecting food donations for the food pantry run by Catholic Charities WV. Cindy Hammer, executive director of Catholic Charities WV, shares her excitement for the idea, developed by the Knights of Columbus. Hammer said they are especially in need of canned soups, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, pasta, macaroni and cheese, cornbread mixes, cereals, breakfast foods and sugar-free products. Catholic Charities WV is located at 103 Randolph Avenue.
