Donald George Sr.Mr. Donald Ray George Sr., 79, a resident of Belington, departed this life at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at the residence of his son, Donald Jr. in Beverly, following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 30, 1933, at Belington, a son of the late Archie B. and Allie Myers George.

He was first married to Virginia Corley and second married to Mary Louise Whitlow, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by five daughters, Carolyn Grampo and husband, Dale, of Wisconsin, Barbara Krickbaum of Maryland, Martha Beatty of Texas, Donna Lundstorm and husband, Johnny, of Florida, and Bonnie Mayle and husband, Matt, of Philippi; three sons, Donald R. George Jr. and fiancee, Karen. of Beverly, Darren George and wife, Stacey, of Maryland, and David George and wife, Sara, of Elkins; and one brother, Bobby R. George of Belington. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Lee George, and sister-in-law, Evelyn; four sisters, Arlene Harkem, Francis Jones and brother-in-law, Densil, Pearl Arbogast and infant sister, Mildred George.

Mr. George attended the schools of Barbour County. He was a foreman at the Washington, D.C., Ford Plant. He worked for Boker Frozen Foods and was well known for his automotive restoration and especially for his expertise in Volkswagen restoration. He was a Protestant by faith.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Ron Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery near Belington.
