WVSF pageant features seven for competition

Seven girls from throughout West Virginia will vie for titles in their age division when the West Virginia Strawberry Festival stages its Junior Royalty Festival at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buckhannon-Upshur High School.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and younger.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with contestant registration, followed by a 9:30 a.m. rehearsal and 10 a.m. interviews.

Competing in the girls' division for 6- and 7-year-olds are Kinley Hayhurst, Rachael Marie Thrain, Tristan Brooke McCauley, Lakyn Campbell, Elayna Marie Propst, Jessica Sandberg and Laiken Carley Kesling.

Hayhurst, 6, of Craigsville, is the daughter of David and Pamela Hayhurst. She attends kindergarten at Craigsville Elementary School. She enjoys baton twirling, dancing and participating in pageants.

Thrain, 6, of Weston, is the daughter of Paul and Kristy Thrain. A first-grader at Peterson-Central Elementary School, she enjoys karate, dancing, being a great student and helping her mom take care of her brothers.

McCauley, 7, of Elkins, is the daughter of Bobby and Ashley McCauley. A first-grade student at North Elementary, she enjoys playing soccer, riding horses and visiting her grandmother.

Campbell, 7, of Parkersburg, is the daughter of Chris and Rita Campbell. She attends first grade at Greenmont Elementary School, and she enjoys singing, playing the piano, cheerleading, dance, Girl Scouts, participating in Relay for Life and theatre.

Propst, 7, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Jeff and Sherri Propst. A first-grader at Washington District Elementary School, she enjoys cheerleading, karate, reading, drawing, her pets, and playing with her friends and her brother.

Sandberg, 6, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of George and Jennifer Sandberg. She is a first-grader at French Creek Elementary School, and enjoys Girl Scouts, soccer and church.

Kesling, 6, of Buckhannon, is the daughter of Amber and Jimmie Kesling. She attends kindergarten at Hodgesville Elementary School, and enjoys ballet and tap dancing, singing, and being her brother and sisters' personal cheerleader.
