Lady Bobcats fall in regional tourney action

EDINBORO (Pa.) - Kyria Buford fired in a team-high 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Shaw University past Wesleyan 92-78 Friday in opening round action of the NCAA Tournament action.

Shaw University will play Gannon University today at 5 p.m.

Aslea Williams followed with 22 points and pulled down four rebounds, while Brittany Ranson chipped in with 20 points and four assists for the Lady Bears, who led 50-49 at halftime.

Sequoyah Griffin added 10 points and five rebounds for Shaw University.

Lydia Bridenbaugh finished with 27 points and five assists for the Lady Bobcats.

Jamie Kaufman followed with a 18 points, while Daria Abros'kina and Brittany Maxey had 11 points each for the Lady Bobcats.

Maxey had nine rebounds, while Abros'kina chipped in with six caroms for WVWC.

Wesleyan finishes the season with an 24-7 record.
