Alderson-Broaddus College will host Cinderella's Closet on March 23 as part of Do Good Weekend. Donations of formal gowns, shoes, purses and jewelry are needed for the event.
The Office of Student Affairs will collect donations through March 22. The drop-off locations are all on A-B's campus at the Welcome Center and in the Student Affairs Office located on the ground floor of the Student Center. There is also a drop-off location in Benedum Hall for college residents.
Cinderella's Closet with take place in the lobby of Burbick Hall from 5 to 7 p.m. March 23. All community members in need of a prom or homecoming dress can "shop" for a dress and accessories, and the cost will be on a donation basis based on what they can afford.
A-B students will be involved in other activities throughout the weekend promoting community service. During the early afternoon that Friday, students will spend time at Belington Second Hand Store. That Saturday, participants will be at the Help with Heart and Hand Market, Hospice in Elkins, the Philippi Area Assisted Living Homes and performing road clean up on Route 250.
On March 25, students will participate in events on the college's campus including a special chapel service and brunch and performing campus beautification tasks all afternoon with Sodexo Physical Plant.
