EHS?tennis teams split; Bulldogs fall

The Elkins High School tennis teams split with East Fairmont Monday at Davis & Elkins College.

The Tigers won the boys match 7-0. Taking wins in singles were Daniel Lammie (8-2), Jonathan Gainer (8-2), Jacob Schoonover (8-2) and Matt Hewitt (8-2).

Lammie/Gainer (8-1), Schoonover/Tommy Cain (9-8) and Hewitt/Sean Cain won in doubles action for the Tigers.

East Fairmont won the girls match, 7-0.

Elkins travels to Lewis County today for a 4 p.m. Big 10 Conference match.

Prep Baseball

Petersburg 9, TV 1

PETERSBURG - Jesse Earle and Codie Rohrbaugh had two hits each to lead Petersburg past Tygarts Valley 9-1 Monday in non-conference action.

Trevor Harman notched the win for Petersburg in a complete-game effort.

Owen Arbogast took the loss for the Bulldogs (0-3) in two innings of work. He gave up six runs on six hits.

Adam Cassell and J.D. Brown had the lone hits for Bulldogs.

Petersburg (2-2) will host East Hardy on Wednesday. Tygarts Valley visits Webster County the same day.

Prep Softball

East Hardy 13, MHS 2

MARTINSBURG - Autumn Mathias pitched a complete-game one hitter to lead East Hardy past Martinsburg 13-2 on Monday.

Mathias gave up two runs, walked five and struck out five for the Lady Cougars (2-0).

Rayann Foltz and Morgan Basye had two hits and two RBIs for East Hardy.

Morgan Mongold chipped in with a two-run single for the Lady Cougars.

East Hardy travels to Moorefield today.
