Evelyn Tacy Hammack Parrack, 91, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, in Hubbard Hospice House in South Charleston.
She was born July 20, 1920, at Mill Creek, to parents Willie B. and Helen Simmons Tacy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Grover Smith and Austin Pacheo.
She was married to Lester W. Hammack, who passed away July 8, 1954. She later married Ralph Parrack, who passed away Sept. 18, 1976.
She is survived by one son, Richard Terry Hammack and wife, Ann, of Charleston. One sister, Betty Pacheo of Clinten, Md.; a grandson, Mark Edward Hammack and wife, MaryAnn; five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Parrack was a member of Mill Creek Presbyterian Church where she had served as elder, clerk of sessions and president of the Presbyterian Women of the Church. She was a member of Elkins Business and Professional Woman's Club where she served as president for two terms and was Woman of the Year in 1981. She served as mayor for the town of Mill Creek and also served on the Town Council. She was employed by Dr. H.E. McNeish from 1945 until he closed his office in 1970. She then went to the Area Agency on Aging and retired in 1988.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, March 26, at Mill Creek Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday from the church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Kline and the Rev. Tim Glaser officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery.
