March 28, 2012

Lindsey Brooke Herron, of Parsons, recently captured the crown of Miss Tucker County Outstanding Teen.

This title is the first step of the Miss America Scholarship Program that entitles Herron to compete for the state title of Miss West Virginia Teen during July in Morgantown. The winner will represent West Virginia at the national pageant in Florida.

Herron, 13, attends Tucker County Middle School. She is a familiar face in the Tucker County area based on her participation in many community activities. In academics, she is an A student and a member of the Honor Society. Her athletics include being a member of the track team and swimming for the Otter Track Team in Elkins.

Lindsey Herron was crowned Miss Tucker Outstanding Teen.

She is dedicated in all she does and this will help her prepare for competition in the four areas - interview, talent, physical fitness and evening gown.

Herron has chosen teen suicide as her platform and already is working to bring this issue to focus in Tucker County. Her desire is to win the state title and use the position and crown to work statewide on addressing the issue. She'd like to visit schools and promote the development of suicide prevention programs.

This was Herron's first pageant, and it was quite an accomplishment at the age of 13. Her director feels that she shows great potential to do well at the state pageant and will make Tucker County proud.
