Members of the National Honor Society at Elkins High School celebrate the induction of 27 new members recently.

Vice President Kara Parrack, Secretary Hillary Paugh, Treasurer Catie Riggleman and NHS member Kylee Gear each spoke about one of the four selection requirements. The new candidates were then officially inducted into National Honor Society, before EHS Principal David Fincham gave a few remarks.

"Today is one of the most enjoyable days of the school year," Fincham said. "It gives us the opportunity to reaffirm the importance of scholarship, leadership, service and character and to recognize those students who hold themselves to those high standards."

To close the ceremony, Burky congratulated the new members and thanked everyone for attending.

The Unitas Chapter of National Honor Society at Elkins High School was formed in 1993 by combining the organizations from Coalton and Elkins high schools. National Honor Society members are chosen by demonstrating excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character within the school and community. Each member is charged with the duty of upholding these qualities during their time in National Honor Society.
