Lady Tigers bow to B-U in home finale

Carly Gregory had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to a 6-2 win over Elkins Friday in Big 10 Conference action at Elkins Middle School.

Kesley Wagoner and Claire Davis also collected two hits each for the Lady Bucs (22-5).

Davis added two RBIs, while Wagoner scored a run for Buckhannon-Upshur.

Brooklyn Waddell added a double, two RBIs and scored two runs, while Morgan Wright had a RBI single for B-U.

Megan Williams notched the win for Buckhannon-Upshur in seven innings of work. She gave up two runs on five hits, walked one and struck out four.

"I didn't think we hit the ball well, but I thought we had some timely hits," Buckhannon-Upshur coach Tom Hasbrouck said. "I thought Megan really pitched well, especially late in the game."

Jaime Miller had a two hits, including a two-run double for the Lady Tigers.

Larel Teter added a double and scored a run, while Kelsi Trippett and Hailey Collins had the other hits for Elkins.

Michaela Lewis-Lambert took the loss for the Lady Tigers in seven innings of work.

"Buckhannon hit the ball and we didn't," Elkins coach Corrine Palmer said. "We just didn't play very well. We're going to have to be ready to play on Tuesday when we begin sectionals."

Elkins will entertain Lewis County for sectional tourney plat at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Buckhannon-Upshur entertains Lewis County today for a regular season contest at 1 p.m.

Prep Baseball

Pendleton County 10,

Tygarts Valley 0

FRANKLIN - Daniel Hevener scattered only one hit over five innings pitched to lead Pendleton County past Tygarts Valley 10-0 Friday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Hevener walked one and struck out eight for the Wildcats (14-10).

Hevener, Corey Simmons and Evan Arrington drove in runs for Pendleton County.

Owen Arbogast took the loss for the Bulldogs (9-13) in five innings of work.

Mark Parrack had the lone hit for Tygarts Valley, which will travel to Moorefield for a doubleheader today.

Pendleton County visits Union on Monday.

East Hardy 16, Paw Paw 1

BAKER - Cody Walker had three hits, including a home run and drove in three runs to lead East Hardy past Paw Paw 16-1 Friday in Potomac Valley Conference action.

Jaime Miller added two hits, including a home run and three RBIs, while Kollin Foltz also hit a homer and had two hits for the Cougars (20-4).

Foltz notched the win for East Hardy in two innings of work. He gave up no runs on no hits and struck out four.

Andrew Rodriguez took the loss for Paw Paw in 2/3 of an inning.

East Hardy will host Frankfort today for a double-header starting at 11 a.m.
